The Broncos’, outfitted in what most consider to be the ugliest uniforms of all time (especially with the vertically-striped socks shown in this painting) ventured forth into its first season of professional football. The jerseys are similar to the 1965-1966 style, with slight differences and feature the NFL/75 patch. The Broncos wear 1965 vintage uniforms, with the helmet the exact same as worn from 1962-1965. I heard the announcer say they were throwbacks to the franchise’s original uniform in 1960. Road jerseys were a white mirror image of their home counterpart. The home jerseys were a solid Tennessee Orange with white triple sleeve stripes, numbers and letters. Each throwback (white and orange) is worn once. I seriously doubt this. According to former team equipment manager Larry Elliott (1966-1982), jerseys from this period were manufactured by Wilson. The name Broncos’ was adopted after a baseball team that had once played in Denver (Denver’s 1921 Midwest Baseball League team was apparently also called the Broncos).
