In March 1958 above a barber’s shop in Brixton, Claudia Jones established and from that point edited the anti-imperialist, anti-racist paper West Indian Gazette, its full title thusly showed on its masthead as West Indian Gazette and Afro-Asian Caribbean News (WIG). This led to new revelations and rediscoveries about Claudia Jones, not included in the three printed biographies, or the film biography.
However, undeterred, she continued to work tirelessly with the West Indian community in London. She used her understanding of political theory, art, and culture to build bridges in the fight for racial equity.
