You did not live to see the world that you fought so bravely to preserve.
I know little of you.. yet I know so much of you. Find out how you and your organisation can help us do more, Give Other People the Chance to Read this Letter. I know not of your suffering or the suffering of those who lost you from their lives. 14-18 NOW would like to thank our generous funders, partners, supporters and volunteers who have helped us reach over 30 million people in the UK so far.
Thank you. There are so many words in my head, so much emotion in my heart but, even as a writer, I am somehow unable to put these onto paper in the way that I would wish.
You did not live to see the high esteem and regard in which all of those who fought (I almost wrote “so fearlessly”… but perhaps fear was with you all the time – which makes your endeavour and your sacrifice so much more poignant) are remembered by those of us who are blessed to live our lives with the freedom which was, quite literally, fought for. But they are the only words I can repeat. I attend the annual festival of remembrance.

For facing your fear. You stood proud and strong and faced unspeakable horror in order to preserve the way of life and the principles and ideals held so dear by so many. I know not those who you loved and who loved you. Please know that those you loved and left behind gained comfort from the knowledge that you were not forgotten by those of us who never knew you but hold you in our hearts.
